TCU holds MVSU to without a 3-pointer in largest win in eight years
FORT WORTH - With a season-high 23 assists, No. 21 TCU had its largest win in eight years with an 88-43 victory over Mississippi Valley State Sunday evening in Schollmaier Arena.
The Horned Frogs (9-1) won their seventh-straight game by sharing the ball, making threes and preventing the Delta Devils (1-11) from making any from beyond-the-arc. The last team TCU defeated by at least 45 points was also Mississippi Valley State, by a margin of 53 points on Nov. 24, 2014.
TCU made 6-of-7 from 3-point range to start the game and finished the first half 9-of-14. Of the 19 made field goals in the first half, 18 were assisted, including each of the first 16 made shots.
The Horned Frogs led 53-20 at halftime, their largest lead at the half this season.
The second half was most of the same as TCU continued to grab loose balls as it outrebounded MVSU 43-27 and recorded a season-high 14 steals. The Delta Devils failed to make a 3-pointer in eight attempts, the first TCU opponent to do so in seven years.
Mike Miles Jr. finished with a team-high 15 points, despite playing just 21 minutes. He was one of six Horned Frogs to make a 3-pointer and was 3-of-4 from deep, all in the first half.
Damion Baugh scored 12 points, along with JaKobe Coles, who also added a career-high nine rebounds.
Emanuel Miller rounded out the double-figure scorers with 11 points to go with seven rebounds and a team-high five assists.
The Horned Frogs will next play Utah at Vivint Arena on Wednesday at 8 p.m. CT. The game will be shown on Pac-12 Mountain.
