Frogs Win Opener in Costa Rica, 93-66

TCU makes 14 3-pointers
SAN JOSE, Costa Rica – TCU opened its foreign tour with a 93-66 win over the University of Ottawa on Saturday at Colegio Seminario in San Jose, Costa Rica.
The Horned Frogs' top four scorers were transfers. Sophomore Gavin Sykes from Long Beach State, led the Horned Frogs with 20 points on five made 3-pointers. Sophomore DJ Thomas from West Virginia, made three 3-pointers to finish with 15 points. Texas Tech transfer Luke Bamgboye scored 13 points. The top JUCO player in the country last season, Trent Lincoln, scored 11 points and made three 3-pointers.
TCU led 28-15 after the first quarter and 51-32 at the half. The Frogs' defense stepped up in the third quarter, holding the Gee-Gees to eight points, while scoring 19, to lead 70-40 after three.
For the game, TCU forced 37 deflections.
Micah Robinson rounded out the double-figure scorers with 10 points. He had two of TCU's 14 3-pointers. Joining Robinson in the starting lineup was Brock Harding (5 points, Ryan Hunt (3 points) and Tanner Toolson (7 points).
TCU will play its final exhibition game in Costa Rica on Sunday at 5 p.m. CT against Ottawa. The game will be held at Colegio Seminario and admission is free for fans to attend.
