Sykes Leads Frogs in Exhibition Win

Six Horned Frogs score in double figures
SAN JOSE, Costa Rica – TCU finished 2-0 in its foreign tour with a 99-70 win against the University of Ottawa on Sunday at Colegio Seminario in San Jose, Costa Rica.
As was the case in Saturday's 93-66 win over the Gee-Gees, Gavin Sykes was the leading scorer for the Horned Frogs, finishing with 20 points for the second-straight game. The sophomore made three of TCU's seven 3-pointers for the game.
Fifth year guard Tanner Toolson scored 12 of his 18 points in the second half and was 5-of-6 from the free throw line. He also had six rebounds.
Trent Lincoln made three 3-pointers and finished with 13 points and added five rebounds and three assists. Luke Bamgboye, Micah Robinson and DJ Thomas each scored 11 points. Thomas, the transfer from West Virginia had nine rebounds to lead the Frogs, which outrebounded the Gee-Gees, 42-20.
TCU trailed 16-6, but outscored Ottawa 14-4 to tie the game 20-20 at the end of the first quarter. The Frogs continued to excel in the second quarter, winning that period 34-14 to lead 54-34 at halftime. After 18 points in the third quarter, TCU pushed to the finish line with 27 points in the fourth.
The Frogs had just nine turnovers and forced the Gee-Gees into 14.
Changing it up, TCU went with a different starting lineup than on Saturday with Bamgboye, Lincoln, Sykes and Thomas getting their first start, in addition to Robinson.
Other scorers were Ryan Hunt with five points, Brock Harding and Xavier Edmonds with four points and Gavin Murphy with two.
