
Edmonds Leads Frogs to 66-64 Win

Punch records double-double as TCU advances in NCAA Tournament
GREENVILLE, S.C. – A game-winning shot by Xavier Edmonds led TCU to a 66-64 first round NCAA Tournament win over Ohio State on Thursday at Bon Secours Wellness Arena.
The Horned Frogs (23-11) led by as many as 15 points in the first half but trailed by five with 6:19 remaining.
The game was tied 61-61 with 1:16 to play before Micah Robinson's career-best fourth 3-pointer of the game gave TCU a 64-61 lead. The Buckeyes' all-time leading scorer Bruce Thornton hit a three to tie it with 32 seconds remaining.
Edmonds, who finished with 16 points and eight rebounds, took the ball in the paint on a pass from David Punch and scored the go-ahead bucket with 4.3 seconds left. Thornton's half-court attempt was off to give TCU its first NCAA Tournament win since 2023.
The Frogs went up by 15 points thanks to seven first-half 3-pointers and closed the half on an 11-0 run, which included two threes by Robinson and one by Brock Harding. The Frogs led 39-24 at the break.
TCU hung on in the second half despite shooting 32.1 percent from the field, which included a 1-of-13 effort to start the period. OSU (21-13) shot 48.8 percent in the second half. The Buckeyes went on an 11-1 run to take a 51-50 lead with 7:22 remaining, which was their first advantage since it was 5-2.
Robinson scored a game-high 18 points on 4-of-6 shooting from 3-point range. Punch recorded his fifth double-double of the season with 16 points and a career-high tying 13 rebounds.
The Horned Frogs will face No. 1 seed Duke on Saturday at a time to be determined.
