Edmonds records fourth-straight double-double
BOULDER, Colo. – A first half scoring drought was too much to overcome in an 87-61 loss at Colorado Sunday afternoon at CU Events Center.
The Horned Frogs (13-9, 3-6) went over seven minutes (7:23) without a point and over that stretch, the Buffalos (13-9, 3-6) scored 12-straight points to take a 34-21 lead. The drought ended with two free throws by Xavier Edmonds with 1:46 remaining in the half. Colorado maintained a double-digit lead for the remainder of the game.
Edmonds was primary source of production for the Frogs. The junior finished with 13 points, going 7-of-8 from the free throw line, and had 12 rebounds for his fourth-straight double-double. Edmonds played just 20 minutes, picking up a flagrant two foul with 13:14 to play which forced him to be removed from the game.
TCU could never find a rhythm offensively, shooting a season-low 33.3 percent from the field. Colorado had little problem with its offensive production, shooting 55.6 percent from the field, including 47.8 percent from three, both the most allowed by the Frogs this season.
TCU will return to action on Saturday when it hosts Kansas State for a 1 p.m. tip on TNT. At halftime, the 1986 Southwest Conference championship team will be recognized.
