Tennyson makes six threes to score a season-high 24 points
LAWRENCE, Kan. – A game with 11 ties and 26 lead changes was decided in the final minute of TCU's 83-81 loss at No. 2 Kansas, Saturday in Allen Fieldhouse.
A step-back jumper by Jameer Nelson Jr. gave TCU a 79-77 lead with 1:38 to play. Following a turnover by KU's Kevin McCullar Jr., Ernest Udeh Jr. was whistled for a flagrant foul on KU's Hunter Dickinson after the officials stopped play to review. Dickinson made both free throws and the Jayhawks retained possession, which led to Dajuan Harris Jr. making a shot to put Kansas (13-1, 1-0) up two points, 81-79, with 43 seconds to play.
Micah Peavy cleaned up a miss by Emanuel Miller to tie the game, 81-81, with 26 seconds to play. Dickinson scored the layup with his game-high 30th point, to put the Jayhawks up two with 3.4 seconds to play.
Nelson got all the way to the 3-point line, but his closely guarded attempt fell short.
TCU (11-3, 0-1) built a lead as large as five, with 9:47 to play in the second half thanks to a career-high tying six 3-pointers (on eight attempts) by Trevian Tennyson. The senior guard finished with a season-high 24 points on 9-of-12 shooting from the field.
Miller hit several clutch shots as KU's lead was never more than six. Miller finished with 20 points thanks to a 7-of-8 effort from the free throw line.
The Horned Frogs will next host No. 11 Oklahoma on Wednesday at 8 p.m. on ESPN2.
