
Comeback Falls Short in 73-72 Loss to No. 24 Iowa State

Frogs drop first home game in Schollmaier Arena
FORT WORTH - No. 19 TCU outscored No. 24 Iowa State by 17 in the second half, but the Horned Frogs' comeback attempt fell short in a 73-72 loss Saturday in front of an announced crowd of 7,739 at Schollmaier Arena.
TCU (13-5, 2-3) trailed the entire game and as many as 19 with 14:57 to play in the game. The Horned Frogs trailed 71-59 with 4:20 to play before and held the Cyclones (14-4, 3-2) to just one made basket for the remainder of the game.
TCU cut it to four points, 71-67, with 1:47 to play following a transition layup by Trevian Tennyson, who led the Frogs with 19 points. After an empty TCU possession and two free throws by ISU's Curtis Jones, Micah Peavy scored to once again trim the deficit to four points, 73-69.
TCU had chances to cut the deficit to two or fewer points, but got a missed three by JaKobe Coles and missed put-backs by Emanuel Miller and Peavy.
ISU's Hason Ward missed the front end of a one-and-one which led to Tennyson's third 3-pointer of the game at the final buzzer.
TCU was plagued with a season-high 27 turnovers, including 18 in the first half, which led to a 44-26 deficit at the break.
Peavy finished with 11 points and a game-high nine rebounds. Miller scored 10 points and had five rebounds and a team-high four assists.
TCU travels to Stillwater, Okla., to face Oklahoma State at 8 p.m. CT on Tuesday. The game will air on ESPN2.
