Mike Miles Jr. scores a game-high 24 points
LUBBOCK, Texas - A pair of JaKobe Coles free throws sent the No. 24 TCU men's basketball team home a winner in Lubbock, Texas for the first time in eight seasons, 83-82 Saturday at United Supermarkets Arena.
After leading most of the entire second half, the Horned Frogs (19-10, 8-8) trailed by one point with 12.1 seconds to play. Coles was fouled on the ensuing possession and made both free throws to put TCU ahead by one point. A desperation three by De'Vion Harmon was off to give the Frogs a sweep of the Red Raiders (16-11, 5-11) for the first time since 2015.
Coles scored 15 points, one of four TCU players in double-figures.
Mike Miles Jr. led all scorers with 24 points, including a 2-of-4 effort from 3-point range. Miles had the initial go-ahead bucket to make it 81-80, with 1:14 to play on a dunk off a pass from Damion Baugh, who finished with nine assists.
TCU, which was without Souleymane Doumbia, Eddie Lampkin and Rondel Walker was able to withstand foul trouble throughout the game to lead by as many as 12 points late in the second half. The only available center, Xavier Cork, picked up his fourth foul with 12:29 to play in the game. He finished with 10 points on 5-of-5 shooting in just 13 minutes of action.
Emanuel Miller finished with this second double-double of the season with 14 points and 12 rebounds.
TCU will be back in action on Wednesday when it hosts Texas at 8 p.m. on ESPN2.
