Taiwo leads TCU with 15 points
AUSTIN, Texas – Three Horned Frogs scored double figures in TCU's 70-50 loss to No. 20 Texas on Saturday afternoon at the Moody Center. Tomi Taiwo led the Frogs with 15 while Paige Bradley and Lucy Ibeh both had 12.
The Rundown
TCU's Tomi Taiwo got the Frogs started, knocking down her first 3-pointer of the contest from the corner to tie the game at 7-7 with 6:28 remaining in the frame. Texas led after the first quarter 21-14.
TCU continued to battle back in the second quarter and cut the deficit. Paige Bradley made two 3-pointers from the corner in one minute to bring the Frogs back within single digits. After Taiwo knocked down two free throws, Texas led just 33-26 with 3:47 remaining in the half.
TCU ended the half trailing 35-26. TCU shot .500 from downtown in the first half and also shot 1.000 percent (6-of-6) from the free throw line.
Texas continued to extend its lead throughout the second half, outsourcing the Frogs 35-24 in the final 20 minutes. The Frogs cut the lead to single digits for the last time after Lucy Ibeh's driving layup with 8:45 remaining, but Texas led by 11 or more points the rest of the game.
A season-high 27 turnovers plagued the Frogs as Texas scored 21 points off the miscues. Despite the turnovers, three players scored double figures. Taiwo led the Frogs with 15 points while Ibeh and Bradley added 12 apiece.
