SACRAMENTO, Calif. – A 2025-26 season that produced a second straight Big 12 championship, 32 victories and a repeat Elite Eight appearance ultimately concluded in the NCAA quarterfinals for TCU women's basketball.
Squaring off with No. 1 seed South Carolina, the third-seeded Horned Frogs bowed out of the Big Dance in a 78-52 loss on Monday in the Sacramento 4 Regional final inside the Golden 1 Center.
TCU (32-6, 15-3 Big 12) was competitive with the Gamecocks (35-3, 15-1 SEC), who advanced to a sixth consecutive Final Four, for much of the contest despite the lopsided score.
The Frogs scored the first six points of the contest and jumped out to a 12-4 lead just over five minutes. TCU began the second quarter on an 8-2 run to go on top 22-18 with 7:33 to go before the intermission.
The Gamecocks, though, closed the half on a 17-5 run. TCU remained within three possessions the final frame, trailing 49-41. South Carolina scored 14 unanswered points to blow the game open. TCU didn't score its first basket of the quarter until the 5:55 mark.
Olivia Miles paced TCU with 18 points and six assists in her final game as a Horned Frog. The second player to earn first team All-American honors in program history, Miles steadied the Frogs with 11 points in the first half and staked TCU to its four-point lead in the second quarter via a step back three.
Miles was one of seven graduating TCU players who capped their collegiate careers.
Taylor Bigby joined Miles in double figures with 10 points while Marta Suarez and junior Donovyn Hunter added nine apiece.
TCU limited the Gamecocks' All-American guards Raven Johnson and Ta'Niya Latson to just three points combined entering the fourth quarter.
But the Gamecocks' frontcourt depth gradually wore out the Horned Frogs.
South Carolina finished with a 52-24 advantage on the glass against a TCU team that entered averaging nearly 42 boards per game. The Gamecocks transformed 22 offensive rebounds into 21 second chance points.
Joyce Edwards led all players with 24 points and 12 rebounds. Fellow forward Agot Makeer gave South Carolina 18 points off the bench, 11 of which came in the second half.
The Gamecocks connected at a blistering 72 percent clip from the field (13-19) and scored 29 points over the final 10 minutes.
TCU knocked down seven 3-pointers over the course of the game, becoming only the eighth Division I program to connect from distance 1,000 times over a three-season span. The Frogs will enter next season having knocked down the most 3-pointers of any team since head coach Mark Campbell's hire in 2024-25 with 1,003.
Miles and Bigby were responsible for five of TCU's three-balls.
TCU puts a bow on its third season in the Campbell era having joined the Gamecocks as one of five programs to reach the Elite Eight in consecutive seasons and one of six to post 30-win campaigns in 2024-25 and 2025-26. TCU and South Carolina were the only teams at the Power Conference level to repeat as regular season conference champions.
