Ibeh scores 21, Manumaleuga adds 16 in win
FORT WORTH – Behind Lucy Ibeh's third double-double of the season, TCU earned its first Big 12 Conference win of the season as the Horned Frogs defeated Kansas State 75-62 on Saturday night in Schollmaier Arena.
Ibeh scored a season-high 21 points while Tara Manumaleuga added 16.
The Rundown
The Frogs had a strong start to the game, jumping out to a 5-0 lead in the first quarter. Additionally, TCU held Kansas State scoreless until 5:17 remaining in the first period. Leading the charge for TCU was Tara Manumaleuga, who made three of her four 3-pointers in the first quarter. At the end of the first frame, TCU led 18-10.
Spreading the love from behind the arc, Paige Bradley nailed a 3-pointer to give TCU an 11-point lead to open the second quarter. Kansas State slowly began to crawl back, but the Horned Frogs maintained the lead at half, 29-28.
TCU shined in the third quarter as the team extended its lead to 10 by the end of the period. All tied up at 44, the Frogs ended the quarter on a 10-0 scoring run. Manumaleuga scored seven of her 16 total points in the period, going 3-of-6 from the field.
The Frogs continued to control the game in the fourth quarter. Lucy Ibeh scored four consecutive layups to extend its lead to 13 with 7:07 remaining. She scored 12 of her 21 total points in the fourth quarter, lifting the Frogs to the 13-point victory.
Ibeh recorded her third double-double of the season with a season-best 21 points while also adding 10 rebounds. As a team, TCU shot .500 from beyond the arc, the third time in the past five games that the Frogs have shot at least .500 from three.
