Baugh records his second double-double of the season
FORT WORTH – No. 14 Baylor made five of its last six field goal attempts to beat No. 17 TCU, which led the majority of the second half, 72-68, Saturday at Schollmaier Arena.
The Horned Frogs (17-8, 6-6) led by as many as 10, 56-46, with 9:13 to play in the game. The Bears (19-6, 8-4) answered with a 15-2 run to take their first lead of the second half, 61-58.
A layup by JaKobe Coles gave TCU the lead, 62-61, with 2:58 remaining. BU scored the next seven points to take a six-point lead, 68-62, with 1:01 to play. Back-to-back buckets by Damion Baugh made it a two-point game with 22.3 remaining. A TCU steal gave TCU the ball with eight seconds on the clock. Baugh's shot was off target and BU made two free throws to seal the win.
Baugh had 16 points, 10 assists and seven rebounds for his second double-double of the season and second in the last four games. Coles was 6-of-8 from the field for 15 points and Emanuel Miller rounded out the double-figure scorers with 10 points.
The Horned Frogs won the rebounding battle, 32-26, and outshot the Bears, 52.8 percent to 46.3 percent. However, Baylor made 10 3-pointers and TCU made just two in 10 attempts.
TCU will next play at No. 11 Iowa State on Wednesday at 8 p.m. on ESPNU.
