Horned Frogs Add Ninth Member of 2021 Incoming Class
FORT WORTH – TCU's men's basketball team added Butler transfer JaKobe Coles to its roster for the upcoming season.
Coles is a 6-7 forward from Denton, Texas who averaged 6.3 points and 3.3 rebounds in 17.6 minutes per game last season as a freshman at Butler. He scored in double figures twice, including a season-high 14 points against Providence on Dec. 23. Coles' season was cut short after sustaining a left knee injury during practice on Jan. 1. His freshman season ended with just six games played.
Prior to Butler, Coles starred for Guyer High School in Denton and earned Texas All-State third team honors as a senior. He averaged 17.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists and led Guyer to a 27-5 record. The four-star recruit was rated as the No. 134 player in the Class of 2020 by Rivals. In 2019 Nike EYBL play, Coles averaged 13.8 points and 7.4 rebounds, while playing alongside TCU's Mike Miles and the Texas Titans, which finished 17-2.
Coles joins an incoming class that includes guards Damion Baugh, Maxwell Evans, Cashius McNeilly, Emanual Miller, Micah Peavy and Shahada Wells, forward Xavier Cork and center Souleymane Doumbia.
