Freshman Mike Miles makes season-high five 3-pointers in loss
LAWRENCE, Kan. – A second half run from No. 15 Kansas led the Jayhawks to a 59-51 win over TCU Thursday at Allen Fieldhouse.
TCU (9-6, 2-5 Big 12) was led in scoring by freshmen Mike Miles, who led all players with 18 points and a season-high five 3-pointers. RJ Nembhard added 12 points, his 12th consecutive game in double-figures. Kansas (11-5, 5-4) was led by David McCormack's 15 points.
After being held scoreless in the first meeting, Miles scored eight of the Frogs' first 10 points as TCU jumped out to a 10-2 lead over the first three minutes of play. TCU was then held scoreless over the next 7:22 of play, and KU took its first lead at 11-10 midway through the first half. The Frogs held the Jayhawks to only seven points over the final 11:22 of the first half and led 19-18 at the break.
TCU made its first five shots of the second half, including four 3-pointers, to expand its lead to 33-26 with 16:19 remaining. The Jayhawks outscored the Frogs 28-11 over the next 13 minutes and took their largest lead of the game at 54-44 with 3:11 to play. TCU missed five of its last seven shots over the final two minutes of play as the Frogs were unable to come back down the stretch.
