Strong Shooting Leads TCU to 89-82 Win over NDSU

Miles and Nembhard each score over 20 points
FORT WORTH – Freshman Mike Miles scored a season-high 26 points, the most points by a TCU freshman in almost a decade, as the TCU men's basketball team defeated North Dakota State 89-82 on Tuesday inside Schollmaier Arena.
Miles' scoring came on an efficient 11-of-17 (64.7 percent) shooting from the floor, including 4-of-7 (57.1 percent) from 3-point range. Nembhard added 22 points and was 3-of-3 from 3-point range. The game marked the second time this season that Miles and Nembhard both scored at least 20 points, last occurring against Providence on Dec. 9.
TCU (7-2) made 17 of its first 24 shots over the first 15 minutes of play and stretched its lead to as many as 17 at 44-27. However, North Dakota State (2-6) closed the first half on an 18-5 run to trim TCU's lead to 49-45 at the break. Both teams shot over 50 percent from the field and 3-point range. Nembhard led TCU with 15 points, two rebounds and two assists, and Miles added 14 first half points as well.
NDSU made seven of its first nine shots to open the second half and led 62-57 with 14:19 remaining in the contest. It was the first lead for the Bison since the opening minutes of the game. The TCU defense stepped up late in the game, holding NDSU to 34.7 percent shooting over the final 14 minutes of play. The game featured seven ties and 12 lead changes.
