Samuel records third double-double of the season
FORT WORTH – Holding Prairie View A&M to a 36 percent shooting mark, the TCU defense shined in a 66-61 victory for the Horned Frogs Wednesday night.
Freshman Mike Miles continued his exceptional play, leading the TCU offense with 18 points, made possible by an 8-of-9 effort at the free throw line. Kevin Samuel was a force in the paint all night with 12 points, 14 rebounds and two blocks. It was his third double-double of the season.
The Frogs (8-2) and Panthers (1-4) went back-and-forth throughout the first half, but TCU found its groove to start the second half going on a 7-2 run through the first three minutes of the period. Samuel took over on the offensive side to lead the charge scoring 10 points on 5-of-6 shooting and bringing down nine of his 14 rebounds in the second half. The Frogs went on a 12-1 run to take its biggest lead of the game, 60-49, with 3:32 to play.
Along with a game-high 18 points, Miles played 38 minutes, had nine rebounds and six assists, both career highs.
