
TCU Falls at WVU in Triple Overtime, 104-96

TCU records a season-high 18 steals
MORGANTOWN, W.V. - In a game with 13 ties and 21 lead changes, TCU's men's basketball team lost 104-96 in triple overtime to West Virginia Tuesday at WVU Coliseum.
TCU (18-10, 6-9) trailed for most of the game, but fought back at key times in the game. The Frogs trailed by six in regulation with 1:59 to play and were down three with 37 seconds in the second overtime.
Senior JD Miller scored a career-high 24 points, including nine points and several timely buckets in the three overtime periods. Sophomore Kouat Noi recorded his second consecutive double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds.
TCU started the game with stout defense, holding West Virginia (11-17, 3-12) to just 2-of-10 from the field to begin the game. The Frogs also tallied five steals in the first 5:30, but could not translate it to the offensive end where they shot 4-of-12 to open the game.
After TCU tied the score at 20-20 with 6:25 remaining in the first half, the Mountaineers gained momentum, holding TCU to 1-of-8 from 3-point range, and took a 36-30 lead into the break.
TCU began the second half on a 9-2 run to go up 39-38, its first lead since midway through the first half. The Frogs and Mountaineers continued to battle with neither team taking more than a two possession lead until the third overtime period.
WVU led 68-62 with 1:59 to play, but TCU nailed back-to-back 3-pointers from Miller and Desmond Bane and the Mountaineers missed their last three shots to tie the game at 68-68 at the end of regulation.
The Frogs' short bench started to catch up with them as Samuel fouled out midway through the first overtime and Noi fouled out early in the second overtime. With the score tied 88-88 after two overtimes, Bane hit a jumper to put the Frogs ahead 90-88 with 4:44 to play. However, WVU closed the game on a 14-5 run to improve to 6-0 all-time against TCU in Morgantown.
West Virginia's Derek Culver led the Mountaineers with 22 points and 21 rebounds, the most rebounds by an individual against TCU since 2003. Jordan McCabe scored 25 points.
