Noi returns to score 20 points and a career-high 13 rebounds
FORT WORTH, Texas – Kouat Noi and Alex Robinson each recorded a double-double to help TCU end a three-game losing streak and sweep the season series over No. 19 Iowa State, 75-72, Saturday at Schollmaier Arena.
Noi, who had missed the past two games due to an ankle injury, scored 20 points, on 4-of-7 from 3-point range, and had a career-high 13 rebounds. It was the second double-double of the season and his career. Robinson had 12 points and 10 assists for his eighth double-double this season.
Iowa State (19-8, 8-6) made just two of its first 10 attempts from the field as TCU (18-9, 6-8) led early. The Cyclones, which entered the game leading the Big 12 in scoring, then made five of seven shots to grab a 14-12 lead with 11:57 remaining in the half. TCU responded with an 11-4 run to take a 23-18 lead with 7:39 left in the first and led 36-28 at halftime.
Both teams combined to shoot just 2-of-18 from 3-point range (TCU 2-9, ISU 0-9) in the first half.
After only making two threes in the first half, TCU made its first three 3-point attempts of the second. The Cyclones held pace with the Frogs as they made nine of their first 14 shots to open the second half and held TCU to just one field goal over a span of nearly eight minutes. With just over six minutes into the half, Iowa State went on a 13-2 run to take a 58-55 lead with 9:28 remaining, their first lead of the second half.
TCU fought back with an 11-2 run of their own to take a 67-62 lead with 5:12 remaining, including two 3-pointers from Noi and another from Desmond Bane. Iowa State fought back to tie the score 68-68 with 2:28 remaining, but a clutch 3-pointer from Bane and basket from JD Miller gave the Horned Frogs a 73-70 lead with 41 seconds to go which they would not relinquish. Two clutch free throws from Noi and a key defensive stop within the final 21 seconds sealed a 75-72 win for TCU.

- TCU won its fourth straight contest against Iowa State, improving to 10-11 in the all-time series. It also marked the first time that TCU has swept the season series against an opponent in Big 12 play in consecutive seasons.
- The Horned Frogs' all-time winning percentage of 47.6 percent against the Cyclones is their highest among current Big 12 opponents.
- TCU recorded its second win over a ranked opponent this season, both coming against Iowa State. It was TCU's 21st victory over a ranked opponent in school history, and TCU is now 5-18 against ranked opponents under Jamie Dixon.
- The Horned Frogs had at least four players score in double figures for the fifth time in their last six games.
- TCU held Iowa State to just 2-for-20 shooting (10 percent) from 3-point range, the fewest 3-pointers allowed by TCU this season and lowest 3-point percentage by a TCU opponent this season. It was the fewest 3-pointers allowed by TCU since Feb. 24, 2018 when Baylor shot 2-of-8 from 3-point range. - Iowa State's 52 points in the paint were the most allowed by TCU this season.
- The Big 12's second-leading scorer, ISU's Marial Shayok, was held to just four points, his lowest scoring output this season. He came into the game averaging 19.1 points per game.
- TCU also improved to 15-2 when leading at the half.
- TCU outrebounded ISU 42-37 and improved to 14-4 this season, 56-16 under Dixon, 64-17 over the last three seasons when outrebounding its opponent.
