TCU Cruises to a 98-67 Win over WVU

Bane scores 26 in bounce-back victory
FORT WORTH, Texas – Behind a 26-point effort from Desmond Bane, TCU routed West Virginia 98-67 in a bounce-back victory Tuesday night in Schollmaier Arena. Six Horned Frogs registered double-digit point totals in the win.
With stellar play on both ends of the floor, TCU (13-3, 2-2) took the lead just under five minutes into the contest on an elbow jumper from Bane and never trailed again.
West Virginia held a slight advantage early, but the Frogs bunkered down on defense and held the Mountaineers scoreless for just under four minutes, scoring 13 unanswered points. The Frogs posted 48 points, the most in the first half all season, while holding the Mountaineers to 28 points.
TCU's lead reached 35 points late in the second half as the Frogs shot 48.5 percentage in a 50-point second half. The Mountaineers aided the Frog attack with 26 fouls, giving the Frogs a season-high 37 free throw attempts, of which TCU converted 28 for 75 percent.
Bane connected on a career-high 11 field goals, including three 3-pointers. Alex Robinson recorded 14 points and 10 assists for his sixth double-double of the season. Redshirt freshman Lat Mayen saw the most action of his career, playing 24 minutes, scoring 12 points and pulling down six rebounds.

- TCU improved to 2-12 against West Virginia while Jamie Dixon moved to 14-10. Tonight's win marks the second in a row over the Mountaineers in Schollmaier Arena.
- TCU improved to 9-2 on the season when winning the opening tip off, the Frogs also moved to 36-8 in the Dixon era when winning the tip.
- TCU improved to 8-1 at home and 12-1 when wearing white uniforms this season.
- TCU hung 98 on West Virginia, the most points scored against the Mountaineers in school history.
- TCU's 98 points tied for the most points scored by TCU ever in a Big 12 game with last season's 99-98 double overtime loss at Texas. The 98 points stands alone for most points scored by TCU in Big 12 play in regulation.
- TCU's 31-point margin of victory was the highest since the Frogs joined the Big 12. The previous high was 23 in a 96-73 victory over Iowa State last season. It was also the biggest loss ever in the Big 12 for the Mountaineers.

- Six players scored in double figures for the third time this season, and the first since Dec. 23 against Bucknell.

- TCU outrebounded West Virginia 39-38 and improved to 10-2 this season, 52-14 under Dixon, 60-15 over the last three seasons.

Individual Notes
- Desmond Bane scored in double figures for the 12th time in 16 games this season. TCU is now 11-1 on the season when he does so.
- Bane also scored a season-high 26 points on 11-of-18 shooting, the most field goals he's scored in his career. It was the fifth time this season he has scored at least 20 points.
- Kouat Noi sunk a 3-pointer for the 15th consecutive game, dating back to last season. He finished 2-of-6 from three.
- Lat Mayen saw a career high 26 minutes on the floor, notching 12 points and 6 rebounds, the most in his career.
- Alex Robinson recorded his sixth double-double of the season and ninth of his career with 14 points and 10 assists.
- Robinson reached double figures in scoring for the sixth straight contest with 14 points and the eighth time in the last nine games.
- JD Miller recorded three steals, tying a career high last time achieved Nov. 20, 2017 in a win over Nebraska-Omaha.
- Samuel added three blocks, marking the 5th consecutive game he has recorded a block and the 11th time in 16 games this season.
- Owen Aschieris, who was awarded a scholarship for the spring semester on Monday, scored his first collegiate points by going 4-for-4 from the free throw line in the second half. He logged a career-best six minutes and scored four points.
