Frogs Sweep Lady Raiders, Win 69-48

FORT WORTH, Texas -- TCU posted a 69-48 win over Texas Tech on Wednesday night to secure a season sweep of the Lady Raiders in recording their largest win over a Big 12 Conference foe since joining the league.
TCU (11-5, 3-2) held the Lady Raiders to just 31.6 percent shooting from the field and forced 22 turnovers in securing the 21-point victory. Senior All-American candidate Zahna Medley had 12 points and eight assists to lead three Frogs in double figures. Senior Veja Hamilton had a team-high 14 points, four steals and four assists while junior Jada Butts had 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting.
TCU took control in the second quarter, starting the period with 13 consecutive points as they made their first five shots of the quarter. Moore hit a pair of free throws before Medley got a basket on a drive. Jada Butts added a basket in transition before Moore added another basket in the post. Hamilton got another basket on the break before Medley capped the run with a three from the top of the key.
The Frogs further extended their lead later in the second quarter thanks to a 10-3 run that included a three from AJ Alix and a second three from Medley on the day. TCU held the Lady Raiders to just 2-of-11 shooting in the second quarter and forced 14 first half turnovers.
The Frog dominance continued in the third quarter as TCU opened on an 11-2 run to extend the lead past the 20-point mark for the first time on the night. Eventually, the defense held the Lady Raiders to just 3-of-23 shooting during a 17-minute span as it built a 50-28 lead before Texas Tech hit a three with 2:33 to go in the third quarter.
Texas Tech (9-7, 0-5) scored nine straight during a stretch in the fourth quarter after the Frogs had built a 64-38 lead following a basket from Hamilton with 6:34 remaining.
NOTES
TCU's 21-point win was its largest in a league game since joining the Big 12 Conference. It surpassed two 20-point wins over Kansas State in the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons.
TCU has posted its second sweep of Texas Tech in three seasons. The Frogs split the season series a year ago but won all three meetings between the teams in 2013-14. TCU has won seven of the last 10 games in the series.
TCU has won seven of its last eight home games against Big 12 Conference opponents and are a combined 9-3 at home in Big 12 play over the last two seasons.
TCU has won three straight against the Lady Raiders at home. TCU recorded its fifth sweep of a Big 12 Conference opponent since joining the league in 2012-13.

The Frogs return to action on Saturday in Manhattan, Kan., when TCU faces Kansas State for the second time this season. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m. CT.
