POSTGAME NOTES
#8 BYU 64, TCU 58
Las Vegas, Nev. (Thomas & Mack Center)
March 10, 2011
- TCU finished its season with a 11-22 overall record.
- The Frogs bowed out in the quarterfinals of the MWC Tournament for the fifth straight season. Each time the team was matched against either the Nos. 1 or 2 seeds, and each game TCU fell by no more than 10 points.
- TCU held BYU to 64 points, which matched its lowest single-game total this season. The Frogs are only one of three teams to hold the Cougars under the 70-point mark in 2010-11.
- Hank Thorns totaled 15 points, his sixth game overall this season and second straight with at least 15.
- Thorns, who totaled a game-high six assists, finished the season with 225 helpers, which is the third-most in TCU single-season history and only one short of No. 2 Prince Fowler's 1998-99 total of 226.
- Greg Hill, a senior, went 4-of-9 from 3-point range and was 14-of-26 (53.8 percent) over the last three games of his career. He made at least four treys and scored 15 points or more in each contest.
- J.R. Cadot scored 12 points, his seventh time in double figures in the last eight games. He had not previously scored 10 or more since the Dec. 28 home win over Chicago State.
- TCU's seven first-half 3-pointers matched a season high for a period this season previously set March 2 at Air Force.
- TCU held BYU guard Jimmer Fredette, the national scoring leader, to 24 points. It marked only the 11th time this season Fredette failed to reach 25. The Frogs kept him under the mark in each of the teams' three meetings this season.
- The Frogs, who led 31-30 at intermission, became only the fifth team this season to own a halftime lead against BYU.
