TCU falls short against UNLV, 75-66

FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU Horned Frogs (10-7, 2-3 MWC) mounted a valiant second-half comeback against the UNLV Runnin' Rebels (16-4, 3-2), but it wasn't enough, as the Frogs suffered a 75-66 setback at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum. It was TCU's third straight defeat in Mountain West Conference play.
The Runnin' Rebels led by as many as 14 in the first half and had a 40-29 advantage at the break. The Horned Frogs had 13 first-half turnovers that led to 20 UNLV points. In addition, the Rebels went 7-for-11 from 3-point range in the opening stanza.
However, TCU cut the Rebels' lead to six, 67-61, with just over three minutes to play in the game, on a 3-pointer by Neil P. Dougherty from the baseline. However, the Frogs were unable to get any closer.
For the game, TCU finished with 23 turnovers, while UNLV had just 14. The Rebels went 9-of-18 from distance, while the Frogs were just 5-for-17.
TCU's Alvardo Parker had his first career double-double courtesy of career highs in points (20) and rebounds (13). Fellow inside force Kevin Langford had his eighth straight double-figure scoring performance, as he had 14, including 12 in the second half. Brent Hackett contributed 11 points and five steals.
TCU is next in action Tuesday night at conference leader Air Force, who is currently ranked 13th in the nation. Game time is set for 8 p.m. (CT) and the game will be televised on the MountainWest Television Network (mtn.).
