Horned Frogs handle Bears in 65-53 home win before 6,330 fans
FORT WORTH – 'Sharing is caring' is conventionally regarded as a universal truth, but colloquial does not apply to TCU women's basketball.
And certainly not when the Horned Frogs' archrival is involved.
No. 11 TCU won its second straight undisputed Big 12 championship on Sunday with a victory over Baylor in its regular season finale. The Horned Frogs (26-4, 15-3 Big 12) led by as many as 19 points in a wire-to-wire 65-53 victory over the 18th-ranked Bears before 6,330 fans at Schollmaier Arena.
On a day that began with ESPN College GameDay's first-ever visit to TCU, the Frogs entered the rivalry bout leading the Bears (24-7, 13-5 Big 12) and No. 17 West Virginia by one game in the conference standings. TCU locked up a share of the league title and the No. 1 seed in the Big 12 Tournament on Wednesday by virtue of a season sweep of the Mountaineers and an 83-67 blowout of Baylor on Feb. 12 in Waco.
And ultimately, the sequel in a shifting rivalry played out much like first installment.
Baylor had no answer for Marta Suarez and Olivia Miles, who combined for 40 points. Suarez notched her second double-double in three games and led all players with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Miles came one rebound shy of a double-double of her own, finishing with 19 points and nine rebounds.
Taylor Bigby, one of seven graduating players TCU honored pregame alongside Suarez and Miles, gave TCU three double-digit scorers as she netted 12 points, 10 of which came in the second half.
Baylor scored the first basket of the ballgame but never led from then on.
TCU bridged a 10-0 run across the first and second quarters to go on top 19-7 with 8:35 to go before halftime. Baylor never got within eight points the rest of the way. TCU stretched its advantage to 13 late in the first half and blew the game open with nine unanswered points in the third as the lead increased to 40-21.
It marked the third time in the last calendar year TCU has claimed a conference crown at Baylor's expense. TCU tamed the Bears in the 2025 Big 12 Tournament championship game and in a winner-take-all regular season finale to capture its first Big 12 title. The Horned Frogs have now won five straight vs. the Bears after enduring a 37-game losing that spanned 35 years.
TCU also won its NCAA-leading 42nd consecutive home game, a feat head coach Mark Campbell declared would unfold earlier in the day during ESPN College GameDay's first-ever visit to Schollmaier Arena.
Sunday's result all-but-guaranteed the Horned Frogs will have a chance to play two more home games. During the live telecast at center court, TCU was announced as the No. 11 overall seed in the NCAA Selection Committee's latest top 16 reveal with two weeks to go before Selection Sunday.
TCU held Baylor to its fewest points scored in conference play and second-lowest scoring output of the 2025-26 campaign. The Bears shot 35 percent from the field for the game and converted just 6-25 field goal attempts (24 percent) in the first half. Baylor's 53 points scored were 20 below its season scoring average.
A key reason for the TCU's success defensively was the damage it did vs. Baylor leading scorer Taliah Scott (20.2 ppg). The Horned Frogs limited the sophomore guard to just four points over the first three quarters. She finished with a team-high 17 for the game and accounted for 13 of the Bears' 19 points in the fourth.
Scott rattled off 10 straight points to bring Baylor within eight of the Frogs at 55-47 at the 4:29 mark of the fourth. The last-ditch effort to make it a game was for naught, as TCU soon countered with six unanswered to widen the lead back to 15, 63-48, with under 2:00 to play.
Suarez scored seven points in the first quarter as TCU doubled up the Bears 15-7. She hit two 3-pointers during TCU's 9-0 run in the third and finished 5-6 from behind the arc.
Miles matched Bigby with 10 points in the second half.
TCU outrebounded Baylor for the fifth time in as many tries across its winning streak over the Bears. The Frogs finished with a 38-31 edge on the glass.
Clara Silva paired seven points with six rebounds to anchor TCU down low.
The Horned Frogs knocked down 15-18 attempts at the charity stripe.
TCU pestered Baylor into 16 turnovers.
