No. 4 TCU coasts past Mustangs 4-1; notches 15th straight win over crosstown rival
DALLAS – SMU again was no match for No. 4 TCU, as the Horned Frogs pummeled the Mustangs 4-1 on Saturday at the Styslinger / Altec Tennis Center.
TCU (5-1) picked up its 15th straight victory over SMU and has never lost the Battle for the Iron Skillet under head coach David Roditi.
The Horned Frogs took the doubles point behind a pair of 6-3 decisions on courts one and three. Filip Apltauer and Maximus Dussault were the clinching pair on the bottom court. SMU's Trevor Svajda, the nation's No. 2 ranked singles player, evened the affair with a victory on court one. TCU then swept courts two, five and six, with Roger Pascual earning the match-clincher, 6-3, 6-3, over Jerry Barton on court five.
Cosme Rolland De Ravel put TCU back in front for good, outclassing Alex Finkelstein 6-1, 6-4 on court two.
Dussault was the lone TCU player to pocket two victories on the afternoon. He widened the Frogs' lead to 3-1 behind a 6-2, 6-3 takedown of Vikas Deo on court six.
"It's always a tough match playing for that skillet," Roditi said. "DFW rival, so much history, so many matches between these two schools. So anytime we get the win, we're happy and we're very proud. Got the doubles point, played really well. Deacs steps in in singles and doubles and gets the win at No. 6. And then also Cosme at No. 2, plays a really good match. Then it comes down to little Roger, little battler, takes to, my opinion, one of their strongest, best points, Jerry Barton at No. 5.
"Now we get to play Baylor at home, indoors next Thursday, and Tulsa on Friday," Roditi continued. "So come out. Really appreciate the alums that all came out in the community today. Beautiful tennis center here indoors. Now we get to be dads and friends and go back home and get ready for the Baylor Bears. Go Frogs."
TCU improved to 47-5 on the indoor surfaces and has won eight of its last nine duals on the indoor surfaces over the last four seasons.
Doubles Rundown
TCU claimed its sixth doubles point in as many tries in 2026 and never looked more dominant.
The Frogs landed early breaks and led by multiple games on all three courts.
Apltauer and Dussault and Oliver Bonding and Cooper Woestendick, who anchored court one, each started on serve and built 5-2 leads.
Bondig and Woestendick were first pair off the court, serving out a 6-3 win over Svajda and Finkelstein.
Apltauer and Dussault then downed Barton and Deo via an identical score and staked TCU to a 1-0 lead.
Rolland De Ravel and Chan raced ahead to a 4-1 lead over Georgi Georgiev and Krish Arora on court two and left their match unfinished at 5-3.
Bonding and Woestendick won their third straight match. They have played No. 1 doubles in TCU's last five duals.
Apltauer improved to 4-0 in duals and 6-1 overall this season. He has won with three different partners.
The junior is one of four unbeaten Frogs in dual doubles play. Chan and Rolland De Ravel, the ITA No. 23 ranked tandem, are 4-0 while the lefty Dussault boosted his record to 3-0.
TCU won its 20th doubles point in its last 23 outings on the indoor courts dating back to the 2022-23 campaign. TCU is 18-2 in that span when assuming a 1-0 head start.
