Soon-to-be junior was ranked as high as No. 20 in doubles in 2026
FORT WORTH – Fresh off a run to a fourth straight Final Four, TCU men's tennis added to a returning cast that looks the part of a contender for conference and national championships for years to come.
TCU and head coach David Roditi announced the signing of Ole Miss transfer Matthieu Chambonniere to their 2026-27 roster.
Chambonniere helped restore the Rebels' placement among the top teams in college tennis across a two-year run in Oxford from 2024-26. A right-handed player, Chambonniere led Ole Miss with 42 combined victories last season and competed to a 74-34 combined career record. Behind Chambonniere, who sports a 13.20 universal tennis rating, the Rebels reached the NCAA Tournament for the first time in three seasons and earned the No. 32 ITA year-end national ranking.
From Paris, France, Chambonniere will be a junior and has two seasons of eligibility remaining.
He figures to factor into the Horned Frogs' doubles lineup and compete for a spot in singles.
Chambonniere has ascended as high as No. 20 in the ITA doubles rankings. He finished an impressive 24-7 in the discipline during the 2025-26 season. Of his victories, 19 came in duals. Chambonniere went 13-3 vs. SEC foes and closed spring by winning nine of his last 11 completed matches.
He was elevated to the 2-line in singles for Ole Miss last season after most commonly playing on court five as a first year. Chambonniere racked up 19 victories, which were the second most of any Rebel, in 2025-26. His freshman campaign left an imprint on the Rebels' record book. Chambonniere concluded his first collegiate season with a 23-7 singles record, good for the best singles winning percentage (.767) by an Ole Miss freshman since 2007. He became the first Rebel to notch 20 singles victories in five years and secured a team-high seven wins in SEC play.
Chambonniere initially signed with Ole Miss as a top-500 world junior. He claimed a pair of J4 level doubles titles and won more than 60 matches over the course of his amateur career.
TCU's roster now stands at nine players with the addition of Chambonniere. The Horned Frogs return all-but-one letterman from a Big 12 Champion squad that finished with a 25-6 record and No. 4 in the national rankings. Giving grist to TCU's burgeoning championship window, Chambonniere is one of seven players with multiple seasons of eligibility remaining.
