FORT WORTH – The circumstances surrounding No. 5 TCU and Georgia's match were unfamiliar, but the result was all too common.
The Horned Frogs overwhelmed the Bulldogs 4-1 and notched their eighth straight berth to the ITA Indoor National Championships on Monday at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
TCU (4-1) and Georgia (2-1) were forced to wait two days to play due to the winter storm plaguing the United States.
As soon as the roads cleared and the first balls were hit, it was all Frogs.
TCU dropped just two sets all dual in the ITA Kickoff Weekend championship match. Oliver Bonding and Cooper Woestendick clinched the doubles point on court one, then stretched TCU's lead to 3-1 with a pair of sweeps over ranked players. Cosme Rolland De Ravel earned the match clincher on court two with a 7-6 (5), 6-2 victory over the Bulldogs' highest-ranked player in No. 23 Will Jansen.
With the win, TCU earned the right to challenge for a third national title. The Frogs won back-to-back ITA Indoor National Championships in 2022 and 2023 have played in six of the last eight national finals, including four straight at Indoor Nationals.
The ITA Indoor National Championships run from Feb. 13-17 and are jointly hosted by Baylor and SMU. TCU was one of 14 programs to punch their ticket during Kickoff Weekend. TCU will play its first two matches in Waco and Dallas and will learn its starting assignment in the coming days. The complete draw is set to be released on Feb. 10.
Doubles Rundown
TCU was simply too much for Georgia at the top.
Rolland De Ravel and Duncan Chan, tabbed 23rd in the ITA doubles rankings, rolled over Arda Azkara and Santiago Giamichelle 6-1 on court two.
Bonding and Woestendick anchored the top court for the fourth straight match and squared off with Jansen and Gabriele Vulpitta. They landed a decisive break leading 3-2 and served out a 6-3 decision to secure TCU's 1-0 lead.
The match also saw the return of 2025 NCAA doubles championships qualifier Albert Pedrico, who missed TCU's last two matches due to injury. He and Filip Apltauer helmed court three. They led Derrick Chen and Cooper Johnson 5-4 when play was paused.
Chan and Rolland De Ravel won their fourth dual match in as many outings and remain undefeated as a pair at 9-0.
Bonding and Woestendick clinched the doubles point in both of TCU's Kickoff Weekend triumphs.
TCU improved to 5-0 in doubles on the season and won its 18th straight indoor doubles point on the purple courts. The Frogs have claimed the doubles point in 19 of their last 21 indoor duals dating back to 2024.
