Frogs look to defend titles at UTA Gerald Richey Invitational
ARLINGTON, Texas – TCU cross country looks to build off its strong start to the 2025 season this weekend at the UTA Gerald Richey Invitational on Friday, Sept. 5, at 7:30 a.m. CT.
Last weekend, Johnson Lagat won the men's 5k as the only runner under 15 minutes with a time of 14:59:20. He led the men's squad to a second-place team finish at the John Mckenzie Invitational. On the women's side, Mckenzie Bailey was the top female runner, registering a top 10 finish and anchoring the women to a second-place overall team result.
Going into the race at the Harold Patterson Complex, the Distance Frogs will race in their second straight 5k of the season. The field includes ACU, Baylor, Dallas Baptist, Tarleton State, TCU and the host UT-Arlington.
Last season, both the men and women won the overall team title at the Gerald Richey Invitational with 26 points and 30 points, respectively. There were five women in the top 10 individually, and Tate Underwood led the men with a time of 14:53.2, winning the race. The junior looks to defend his title on Friday morning.
Coming into the race TCU's men are ranked sixth in the South-Central Region in the USTFCCCA regional rankings.
