6-7 forward averaged 2.6 blocks per game in 2024-25
FORT WORTH – The Horned Frogs have landed arguably the best returning rim protecter in college basketball.
TCU announced the signing of 6-7 forward Kennedy Basham on Tuesday to its 2025-26 roster.
Basham spent her junior year with Arizona State this past season, where she averaged 6.5 rebounds, 5.7 points and 2.6 blocks per game. The Phoenix native ranked sixth among all D1 players in blocks per game and total blocks (83). Bassham earned the starting nod in 25 of 32 games for the Sun Devils. She was one of only two players to appear in every game for ASU. Basham finished with three-or-more blocks in 15 outings, which were the eighth-most of any player in college basketball.
With the addition of Basham, TCU is now home to four players 6-7 or taller. Basham joins a cast of newcomers that includes centers Sarah Portlock (6-8), Emily Hunter (6-7) and Clara Silva (6-7) along with 6-3 forward Marta Suarez.
She tallied 53 blocks during Big 12 play and finished with multiple rejections in 15 of her 20 outings vs. conference foes. Basham's 53 rejections trailed only Tenin Magassa (56) of Oklahoma State and TCU's Sedona Prince (54) for the most in league play. Basham twice finished with six rejections in tilts vs. the Cowgirls and opposite Iowa State. She sent back a career-best seven shots against NCAA Tournament participant Grand Canyon in December.
Basham played her first two seasons for Oregon from 2022-24. She signed with the Ducks as the No. 59 overall prospect in the class of 2022 in the ESPN HoopGurlz rankings.
As a sophomore, Basham earned 24 starts, including all 18 games in Pac-12 play, across 31 outings. She averaged 4.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game. She led Oregon with 48 blocks. Basham scored a career-high 15 points at Washington on Feb. 23, 2024. She followed up the performance with a 14-point outing at Washington State two days later, marking the first of two times in her career she scored in double figures in consecutive games.
She missed 12 games her freshman due to injury but worked her way back and saw game action in 16 of a possible 35 contests. Basha, led Oregon with 6.3 blocks per 40 minutes In 13 conference games.
Basham played her first two seasons of high school ball at Pinnacle HS before finishing out at PHH Prep. She nearly averaged a double-double as a high school sophomore (17.6 ppg, 9.9 rpg). Basham was selected to compete at the Team USA U18 training camp in June of 2022.
TCU has now landed five transfer players in the last week. Basham joins her frontcourt mates and guards Olivia Miles and Taliyah Parker as newcomers.
New season ticket deposits are ongoing and can be completed online by the TCU Tickets page on GoFrogs.com or by calling the TCU Athletics Ticket Office at (817) 257-3764.
