Initially selected by Portland Fire in third round with No. 37 overall pick
NEW YORK CITY – Taylor Bigby capped a tentpole moment of a night for TCU women's basketball at the 2026 WNBA Draft.
Bigby became the third Horned Frog to hear her name called late in the evening on Monday at The Shed at Hudson Yards. The 6-1 guard was selected in the third round with the No. 37 overall pick by the Portland Fire, and expansion franchise set to begin its first season of competition. Bigby was traded to the Connecticut Sun, who will relocate to Houston following the conclusion of the 2026 season.
TCU joined UCLA, South Carolina and Kentucky as one of only four programs to produce three-or-more draft picks with Bigby's selection.
Bigby, originally from Las Vegas, becomes the sixth WNBA Draft pick in program history and five in the last calendar year for TCU.
Olivia Miles was chosen with the No. 2 overall pick by the Minnesota Lynx while Marta Suarez was tapped at No. 16 and dealt from the Seattle Storm to the Golden State Valkyries earlier in the evening.
Bigby played her final two collegiate seasons for the Horned Frogs from 2024-26 after spending two years apiece at Oregon and USC. She earned 44 starts across her stay in Fort Worth, helping guide TCU to a 66-10 combined overall record, three Big 12 championships and a pair of Elite Eight appearances in that span.
She started the final 19 games of the 2025-26 campaign for TCU and averaged a career-high 10.8 points per game across her final dozen outings in purple and white. Bigby led the Horned Frogs in 3-point percentage (.389) among qualified players and knocked down at least three deep balls in 20 instances over the course of her career. She capped her final season in Fort Worth averaging 8.2 points and 2.3 rebounds per game while connecting at a 44 percent clip from the field.
Bigby notched her two highest scoring outputs of the season in the Frogs' opening weekend victories over UC San Diego and Washington in the NCAA Tournament on March 20-22. She scored a career-high 27 points on 7-9 shooting from deep against the Toreros and followed with a 15-point outing to lift TCU to an overtime victory vs. the Huskies.
She is a prospect USA Basketball has become increasingly high on. Bigby made her competitive debut with Team USA at the U23 Nations League in July in Punta Arenas, Chile, helping lead the United States to a gold medal. Bigby subsequently received a call-up to the USA 3x3 Women's National Team for the FIBA 3x3 U23 World Cup in September in China.
Bigby joins Amy Okonkwo, who suited up for the Sun in preseason action in 2025, as one of two Horned Frogs to compete for the franchise.
