Senior guard hits second-straight game-winner in Schollmaier
FORT WORTH – A Noah Reynolds' layup with 25.3 seconds remaining was the difference in a 71-67 win by TCU over BYU Saturday in Schollmaier Arena.
It was the second-straight game-winning shot in as many home games for the reigning Big 12 Co-Newcomer of the Week. One week prior, Reynolds hit a layup with 12.8 seconds to play to beat Kansas State, part of a 7-0 TCU run to end the game.
On Saturday, with TCU trailing 67-65 with 1:43 to play, Reynolds hit two free throws to tie the game 67-67 with 1:32 remaining. The senior guard then used a screen from Ernest Udeh Jr. to get to the left side of the rim and break the tie.
After a missed three by Egor Demin, Micah Robinson made both free throws to go up four with 4.9 seconds left. It was the end of a 6-0 run by the Horned Frogs (9-6, 2-2), which improved to 9-0 at home this season and snapped a 17-game losing streak to the Cougars (10-5, 1-3).
Reynolds finished with 21 points including a 3-of-6 effort from three.
The game featured 12 ties and 17 lead changes and withstood two substantial runs. TCU went on a 16-3 run to lead 33-23 with 5:15 remaining in the first, capped by a Reynolds' led fast break that ended with an Udeh dunk. BYU immediately responded by ended the half on a 14-1 run to lead 37-34.
The Cougars shot 59.1 percent from the field in the first half and was held to 37.5 percent in the second half.
Richie Saunders led BYU in scoring with 26 points on 5-of-7 from three.
TCU will remain at home when it faces Utah on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The game will air on ESPN+.

- Noah Reynolds led the team in scoring for the fifth-straight game and the sixth time this season with 21 points. It was the eighth time this season and the fifth-straight game scoring in double figures. It was his second game this season and 18th game of his career scoring 20 or more points.
- Reynolds was 8-of-18 from the field, including 3-of-6 from 3-point range. The three made 3-pointers tied a season high.
- Vasean Allette scored in double-figures for the sixth-straight game with 11.
- The starting backcourt of Allette and Reynolds had zero turnovers.
- Allette's team-leading five assists were a season high.
- Trazarien White was 1-for-2 from 3-point range. It was his ninth-straight game with a made 3-pointer.
- Micah Robinson, who earned his first-career start, matched a season-high with 10 points.
- Robinson was 5-of-5 from the free throw line including two of them with 4.9 seconds to play to put the game away. The five made free throws matched his season best.
