
Conner Breaks TCU's Single-Season 3-Point Record in Loss at West Virginia

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – TCU cut a 23-point deficit all the way down to eight but in the end, the early hole proved to be too much to overcome in a 57-49 loss at No. 24 West Virginia on Saturday.
The Horned Frogs were harassed into a season-high 27 giveaways against a pressing Mountaineers zone that leads the NCAA in turnovers forced per game (24.6). West Virginia (23-6, 12-6 Big 12) bridged a 20-0 run between the first and second quarters to build a 26-7 lead that proved insurmountable.
TCU will now face either Oklahoma State or Kansas on Friday in the second round of Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship.
Madison Conner led all scorers with 18 points – 16 of which came in the second half. Conner broke TCU's school record for most 3-pointers in a season. The sharpshooter drained her 88th deep ball in the third quarter, surpassing Zahna Medley (2015-16) as TCU's single-season 3-point queen.
Sedona Prince powered home her 12th double-double in 17 outings this season, finishing with 15 points, 12 rebounds and four blocks. She was the game's leader on the boards and in rejections.
The Horned Frogs (19-10, 6-12 Big 12) out-rebounded the Mountaineers 33-23. TCU held West Virginia to its second-fewest points scored in a game all season. The Horned Frogs limited the hosts to 37 percent shooting (20-53) and a 5-19 clip from downtown.
TCU scored seven straight points to take its first and only lead, 7-6, four-and-a-half minutes into the ballgame.
West Virginia transformed 15 TCU giveaways in the first half into 18 points off turnovers and a 37-17. The Horned Frogs went more than 10 minutes without a field goal during the Mountaineers' 20-0 run.
The Horned Frogs outscored West Virginia 32-20 over the second half and 19-9 in the fourth quarter.
Prince did her best to will TCU back into the contest out of the locker room, collecting seven of her points in the third quarter. The Horned Frogs were unable to get any closer than within 18 points of the Mountaineers in the period.
TCU cut its turnover tally down to five in the final fame as its comeback attempt unfolded. The Horned Frogs scored eight unanswered points – seven combined from Conner and Prince – to trim a 48-30 deficit down to 10 at the 6:28 mark. TCU did not allow a field goal for the first 5:40. The Horned Frogs came up empty on their ensuing five possessions, allowing West Virginia to increase its lead back to 15 with three-and-a-half minutes remaining.
Conner accounted for eight of TCU's fourth quarter points.
Agnes Emma-Nnopu and Aaliyah Roberson snared six rebounds apiece.
