Miller leads the Frogs with 15 points and nine rebounds
PROVO, Utah – In a game with two very different halves, TCU was unable to hold onto a 17-point lead in an 87-75 loss at BYU, Saturday at Marriott Center.
Facing one of the nation's top 3-point threats, the Cougars (21-8, 9-7) made nine on 28 attempts, under their average of 11.4 makes per game. However, after being held for 1-of-13 in the first, BYU made 8-of-15 in the second half.
TCU (19-10, 8-8) was just the opposite. The Horned Frogs stormed out from the tip and made seven of their first eight attempts from 3-point range, including the first five. Trevian Tennyson made three of them from deep as TCU held a 46-29 lead at the half.
BYU wasted no time getting back into the game in the second half as it began the period with a three from Trevin Knell, who led the team with four threes and scored 20 points. The Cougars scored 15-straight points to the TCU lead to 50-49 with 12:46 to play.
A three by Richie Saunders gave BYU a 65-62 advantage, its first lead of the game since it was 15-13 with 14:41 left in the first. The Cougars continued a 20-2 run to lead 75-64, with 4:34 to play. They shot 64.5 percent from the field in the second half. TCU shot 35.1 percent.
After going 7-of-10 from three in the first half, TCU was 1-of-6 in the second half.
Emanuel Miller led TCU with 15 points and nine rebounds. He was one of six different Horned Frogs to make a 3-pointer. Jameer Nelson Jr. scored 14 points and had a team-high five assists. Tennyson rounded out the double-figure scorers with 12 points on 3-of-5 shooting from three.
TCU will next play at West Virginia on Wednesday at 6 p.m. CT on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.
