ORLANDO, Fla. – No. 12 TCU looked the part of a frontrunner for the conference crown in its league opener, routing UCF 92-52 inside Addition Financial Arena.
Madison Conner, Sedona Prince and Hailey Van Lith combined for 60 points in a game TCU shot 53 percent (33-62) from the field and drained 11 three-pointers. The Horned Frog trio scored in double figures for the ninth time as teammates.
TCU (12-1) produced its largest margin of victory in a Big 12 road game and won its Big 12 opener for the fifth time in 13 years as a conference affiliate. The Frogs' 92 points scored are the program's most-ever in an away affair under the Big 12 banner.
Conner scored 20 of her game-high 24 points in the first half. She shot 7-12 from the field and converted 4-7 looks from deep over the contest's opening 20 minutes. Conner tallied 20 points in a half for the second straight game and fifth time in 40 games as a Horned Frog. She tallied 24 first half points in TCU's 103-64 home win against Samford on Tuesday.
Prince paired 22 points with seven boards, marking the 20th twenty-point game of her career.
Van Lith netted 14 points and led all players with seven assists.
Agnes Emma-Nnopu, who earned her third straight start, matched the 6-7 Prince for the game-high on the glass.
The Horned Frogs outrebounded the Knights 44-21 and finished with 22 assists.
TCU created separation from UCF (7-4) within minutes. The Frogs threaded a 10-0 run across 90 seconds of game action to go up 13-5 at the 6:06 mark of the opening frame. TCU had the Knights doubled up, 28-14, after one. Conner and Prince accounted for 18 points as the Frogs converted 9-14 attempts from the field.
The Horned Frogs widened their lead over the Knights to 38-19 via back-to-back deep balls by Conner and Emma-Nnopu with 7:25 to go in the first half. TCU began the game 6-11 behind the arc.
Conner's fourth first half triple arrived three minutes later and nudged TCU further ahead, 46-23. Van Lith scored five of TCU's final seven points in the half as the Frogs took a 53-33 edge into the locker room.
Oddly, TCU, which went 8-20 from distance in the first half, did not make a 3-pointer in the third quarter. It didn't matter, though. The Horned Frogs benefitted from a dozen points in the paint and rode face up post play from Prince and Deasia Merrill to a 28-point lead entering the fourth. Prince and Merrill combined for 14 of TCU's 20 points in the period, with Prince scoring eight.
Notably, the Frogs' second unit held the Knights to just seven fourth quarter points. TCU limited UCF to 19 in the second half.
Conner finished the game 5-10 from deep. She drilled five-or-more 3-pointers in a game for the 13th time in a TCU uniform.
Emma-Nnopu also connected at a 50 percent clip from deep, knocking down 3-6 attempts.
Conner was one of six Horned Frogs to record multiple assists, among them Donovyn Hunter, who played a team-leading 25 minutes off the bench.
