Prince Nets Fourth Big 12 Player of the Week Accolade

One of two active players in the league to win the award four times
FORT WORTH – All Sedona Prince has done is make history since stepping onto the Schollmaier Arena floor for the first time in 2023, and that trend continued Monday.
Prince was tabbed Big 12 Player of the Week for the fourth time in her career following a vote of a pool of media experts who cover the league.
She is now one of two players in program history alongside all-time leading scorer Lauren Heard to win the award four times. Prince also joined Kansas State center Ayoka Lee as one of only two active Big 12 players to garner the accolade on at least four occasions.
Prince delivered one of the most dominant performances the sport has ever seen in TCU's 76-68 upset of then-No. 3 Notre Dame on Friday in the Cayman Islands Classic. She tallied 20 points, 20 rebounds, eight blocks and four assists to lead TCU to its highest-ranked win since 2008.
She became the first player in NCAA history to record 20 points, 20 rebounds and eight blocks in a game vs. a ranked team and the first to ever notch 20 boards and eight rejections against an AP Top Five foe. The 6-7 graduate student is now also one of just six players in Big 12 history to snag 20 rebounds opposite a top five team. Prince's performance marked the second 20-20 game in program history. TCU Athletics Hall of Famer Sandora Irvin ('04) is the only other Horned Frog to achieve the feat.
Prince followed up her historical performance with a 17-point, 13-rebound double-double the following day, pacing TCU to an 87-46 walloping of South Florida. She was tabbed Tournament MVP after the final horn sounded.
The Liberty Hill, Texas native continues to lead the nation in blocks per game (4.3) and is fifth in rebounding average (11.5 rpg). She is the only player in the nation who ranks in the top 25 in points, rebounds and blocks per game. Prince is the Big 12's top rebounder and shot blocker and ranks third in points scored (161).
Her efforts in the Caymans propelled TCU (8-0) to the No. 9 overall ranking in Monday's Associated Press poll, the best in program history. The Horned Frogs are now the highest-ranked Big 12 team for the first time in 13 years of conference membership. TCU also earned the No. 5 NCAA NET ranking.
Prince and TCU look to continue their magical start to the 2024-25 campaign at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday inside Schollmaier Arena against Florida Atlantic (5-3). The Frogs then face the ultimate test, a date with reigning national champion South Carolina (7-1) at 6 p.m. on Sunday at Dickies Arena. The neutral site tilt between TCU and the third-ranked Gamecocks will be the first top 10 matchup in program history.
