Horned Frogs' defense does not allow a touchdown for the second straight game
HOUSTON -- TCU dominated on both sides of the line of scrimmage in rolling to a 36-13 win at Houston in the Big 12 Conference opener for both teams.
The Horned Frogs had 564 yards of offense while holding the Cougars to 266. TCU held its opponent without an offensive touchdown for the second straight game.
Houston's opening four possessions of the game went inside the TCU 31, but it came away with just three points. Namdi Obiazor and Damonic Williams combined for a stop for no gain on a 4th-and-1 at the TCU 23, and an incomplete pass on a 4th-and-1 at the 5 also turned the ball over on downs to TCU.
Chandler Morris totaled 367 yards of offense, completing 24-of-37 passes for 314 yards and two touchdowns while adding 53 yards rushing. Emani Bailey topped 100 yards for the second time this season with a team-best 126.
The Horned Frogs started fast in both halves.
TCU took the opening kickoff and drove 75 yards in six plays for a 7-0 lead on a 33-yard touchdown pass from Morris to Warren Thompson. On its first series of the second half, TCU drove 70 yards in four plays to extend its 20-13 halftime lead to 26-13 on a 31-yard scoring strike from Morris to Savion Williams.
Griffin Kell made field goals of 40, 53 and 37 yards.
