Lucy Ibeh scored TCU’s final 11 points, finished with a season-high 24
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A late layup by Oklahoma lifted the No. 14 Sooners over TCU, 77-76, in the Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship Quarterfinals at Municipal Auditorium on Friday night.
Lucy Ibeh led the Frogs with 24 points, including TCU's final 11 points of the game.
The Rundown
With five seconds remaining, Lucy Ibeh capitalized on a Sooner turnover and scored a driving layup to give the Horned Frogs a 76-75 lead. Despite the lead, Oklahoma's Skyler Vann hit a layup with 2.2 seconds remaining to give the Sooners their final lead.
Trailing 71-65 with just under four minutes left, Lucy Ibeh began to take over the game. Two made layups and a free throw from Ibeh cut the Oklahoma lead to 73-72. Ibeh scored 14 of her 24 points in the fourth quarter and 11 points in the final 3:14.
Tara Manumaleuga got the scoring started for TCU by hitting her first three of the night. TCU jumped out to an 11-3 scoring run. With 4:23 remaining, Roxane Makolo scored a layup to give TCU a 20-10 lead. After the first quarter, TCU led 26-23, the most first-quarter points the Frogs have scored all season.
TCU continued to lead the entire second quarter until Oklahoma began its 18-1 scoring run. Despite being down by as 11 in the third quarter, TCU began to claw its way back. The Frogs outscored the Sooners 22-17 in the fourth quarter and trailed by as many as nine points before making it a one-point game.
Ibeh led the Frogs with a season-high 24 points. Bella Cravens posted a career-best four blocks while also adding six points and seven rebounds.
