6-7 center scored 20 second-half points in 61-55 win
FORT WORTH – A career-high 26 points for Sedona Prince willed TCU to a 61-55 home victory against a pesky Incarnate Word squad on Wednesday.
Prince pocketed 20 of her points in the second half before 4,754 spectators. The turnout marked the largest crowd to witness a TCU women's basketball game since the Horned Frogs drew 7,394 fans on Jan. 2, 2013 against Baylor.
The 6-7 center could not have picked a more opportune afternoon to deliver the best offensive performance of her six-year college career.
TCU (4-0) trailed for a combined 48 seconds in its trio of opening week wins over Oral Roberts, Texas A&M-Kingsville and Rice. Yet the Horned Frogs found themselves behind by as many as eight points and down 17-11 after the first quarter. TCU did not assume its first lead until there was 1:49 remaining in the first half when Madison Conner (17 points, six rebounds) knocked down a jumper from the top of the key. A buzzer-beating 3-pointer from Una Jovanovic gave TCU a 29-26 edge entering the locker room.
Prince promptly restored order out of the intermission. She tallied 13 points in the third quarter to stake TCU to a 46-36 lead ahead of the final frame.
The Oregon transfer drew two quick fouls to open the period, scoring the Frogs' first five points and inching TCU further in front 34-28.
Prince also finished with four blocks – one shy of her career high. Her fourth-and-final rejection fueled a coast-to-coast layup off a dime from Conner that gave the Horned Frogs their first double-digit lead of the afternoon at 41-30 with 4:36 remaining in the period.
She widened TCU's advantage to 58-43 at the 5:20 mark of the fourth quarter after converting her second and-one. Prince went 8-9 at the charity stripe.
Jaden Owens then propelled TCU to its largest lead of the outing and put the game to bed on the ensuing possession with a deep ball off a kick out from Tara Manumaleuga.
Incarnate Word (1-2) scored 12 unanswered points over the final 3:43 after TCU emptied its bench.
TCU connected at-or-above a 50 percent clip in each of the first three quarters. The Horned Frogs committed 11 first half turnovers, allowing the Cardinals to stay within reach.
Jovanovic tallied a game and TCU career-high six assists. TCU assisted on 18 of its 21 field goals. Owens, who entered the game leading the NCAA in assist-to-turnover ratio, pitched in five dimes of her own.
Agnes Emma-Nnopu, 5-11, accounted for eight of TCU's 34 rebounds.
TCU limited Incarnate Word to 32.8 percent shooting (19-58). The Horned Frogs have held all four of their opponents below a 33 percent clip from the field.

The Classic is played annually and honors the life and legacy of the late Black Knights head coach and younger sister of TCU men's basketball head coach Jamie Dixon. Maggie Dixon led Army to its first-and-only men's or women's basketball NCAA Tournament appearance in March of 2006 before passing away suddenly weeks later at age-28 due to an undiagnosed heart arrythmia.
