TCU Sweeps the Fight in the Fort

TCU wins four 5-0 matches to improve to 19-0 this season

FORT WORTH -- No. 3 TCU Beach Volleyball (19-0) swept all four of its opponents this weekend, to close out another perfect home showing at the Fight in the Fort. The Horned Frogs took 5-0 victories over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Louisiana Monroe today, to extend its home winning streak to 24 matches, dating back to the 2020 season (March 6, 2020). This is the second time TCU has swept four opponents in the same weekend, along with the 2021 Fight in the Fort weekend (March 19-20).

This was the fourth time in program history that TCU won both matches, 5-0, in a day. The Frogs won 20 of 22 sets today, bringing their total for the weekend to 40 sets won and only two lost.

TCU showcased its depth from the No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5 positions this weekend. Those three positions improve to 27-0 at home this season. Eight Frogs contributed 4-0 weekends: Daniela Alvarez, Tania Moreno, Sutton MacTavish, Alexis Filippone, Hailey Brockett, Maria Gonzalez, Ana Vergara and Rochelle Scott.

QUICK HITS AGAINST TAMUCC:

Megan Muret and Rochelle Scott scored the first point of the day, for the third time this weekend, winning 21-15, 21-9 as the No. 5 pairing.
The duo notched their 13^th win as a pairing (13-1).
Maria Gonzalez and Ana Vergara took the next point for the Frogs in a three-set victory at No. 4: 21-15, 18-21, 15-7.
The duo collected their 12^th win as a pairing and sixth in three-sets.
Gonzalez/Vergara are 6-1 in three-setters this year.
Sutton MacTavish and Hailey Hamlett secured the Horned Frog victory at the No. 3 position: 21-17, 21-7.
This is the pairings first match together since the season opening weekend (February 27, 2021).
MacTavish improved her record to 12-4, Hamlett 10-3.
Alexis Filippone and Hailey Brockett scored the next point for TCU in a two-set victory at No. 2: 21-18, 21-14.
The duo achieved their 7^th win as a pairing.
Both improved their individual seasonal records to 11-3.
Alvarez and Moreno scored the final point for the Frogs in a two-set victory: 21-15, 21-9.
The duo notches their 17^th victory as a pairing this season.
TCU has never lost a match to a program from Texas, staying perfect over the Islanders, 10-0.
TCU is now 25-0 against opponents from Texas.

QUICK HITS AGAINST Louisiana Monroe:

Scott and Yamagata scored the first point of the dual in a two-set victory at No. 5: 21-15, 21-13.
This is the duos first appearance and victory together as a pairing.
Scott improved her season record to 15-1, Yamagata 6-1.
Vergara and Gonzalez took the second point for the Frogs in a huge two-set victory at the No. 4 position: 21-12, 21-8.
The pairing notches their 13^th victory as a duo to close out a perfect weekend together.
Alvarez and Moreno clinched the TCU victory at the No. 1 position: 21-9, 21-18.
The Spanish phenoms are currently riding a 11-match winning streak, the longest in program history, breaking their own record from last season (10 matches).
Alvarez/Moreno are now 18-1 this year, the duo has not lost a set throughout their 11-match winning streak, including victories over three Top 10 opponents' best pairings.
MacTavish and Hamlett scored the fourth point with a two-set victory at the No. 2 position: 21-13, 21-13.
The duo collects their 5^th win together as a pairing.
Filippone and Brockett came back from a 0-4 deficit in their third set to secure the TCU sweep at the No. 3 position: 21-11, 21-23, 15-11.

This is the Horned Frogs' 9th sweep this season.
The Horned Frogs have never lost to the WarHawks. They stay perfect, leading the series, 6-0.

TCU travels to Baton Rouge, Louisiana for their next tournament of the season March 26-27. The Frogs will face five teams, including two Top-5 opponents No. 4 FSU and No. 5 LSU. The Horned Frogs will take on Louisiana Monroe to open the tournament at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
