
Horned Frogs Well Represented on Big 12 Yearly Award Recognitions

Mol named Big 12 Freshman of the Year, Williams earns Scholar Athlete of the Year, three earn spots on All-Big 12 Teams
IRVING, Texas – For the second consecutive year, the TCU beach volleyball team earned multiple awards and recognitions as the Big 12 announced its Beach Volleyball Yearly Awards on Thursday.
Melina Mol earned Big 12 Freshman of the Year, while Morgan Williams picked up Big 12 Scholar Athlete of the Year. This marks the second consecutive year TCU has had someone named conference Freshman of the Year, as Izuzquiza earned the honor last year.
In addition, Sofia Izuzquiza, Anhelina Khmil and Stacy Reeves all earned All-Big 12 recognition This is the second consecutive season that Khmil has earned a spot on the All-Big 12 Team, and the first nod for sophomores Izuzquiza and Reeves.
The freshman of the year, Mol has enjoyed a highly successful first season competing collegiately. She has earned an impressive 16-5 record, including an 11-5 mark against ranked opponents. She has been apart of two clinching points, including against No. 13 Grand Canyon on the road in the second match of the season. She also has earned 11 sweep victories, including six against ranked opponents.
While holding a 3.946 GPA in Finance, Morgan Williams has broken her way into TCU's lineup this season. She has earned a record of 11-4, with a 9-4 mark against ranked opponents. She has played primarily at the No. 4 position, posting an 8-3 record. In addition, she was apart of the clinching point in the semifinals of the Big 12 Championships.
A sophomore, Izuzquiza has followed up her Big 12 Freshman of the Year campaign with a stellar season, posting a 21-6 record. She went 13-6 against ranked team opponents, and an unblemished 8-0 against unranked pairs. She also earned three clinching points, including in the Big 12 Semifinal against Boise State. She has earned 12 sweeps on the season, with five of them coming against ranked teams.
To cap her illustrious career as a Horned Frog, Khmil posted an 18-10 record and a 9-9 mark against ranked opponents. During the match against Florida State on March 28, she reached the 100-win milestone and she continues climbing in the TCU record book. She has played at the top four flights, and her best mark is a 6-2 record at No. 2. She also served as the clinching point in the match against Arizona State during the Big 12 Championships. In addition, she has been apart of 12 sweeps with three coming against ranked opponents.
Reeves has experienced a standout season as a sophomore, posting a 21-6 record across all five positions. She also has earned a 13-5 record against Ranked Team Opponents. She also has earned three clinching points, including against No. 13 FAU and No. 12 Arizona State in the Big 12 Tournament. In addition, 14 of her match wins have been sweeps, including ranked sweeps against five opponents.
