Horned Frogs repeat title bid falls short in Gulf Shores
GULF SHORES, Ala. – Tenth-seeded TCU beach volleyball fell in a heartbreaker to No. 7 LMU on Friday afternoon to end its season at Gulf Shores Public Beach.
The Horned Frogs opened up fast, taking three first sets to gain an early advantage.
LMU was able to strike first at No. 2, but Anna Long and Natalie Glenn struck right back to even the score.
The freshmen duo of Hannah Taylor and Melina Mol kept things rolling for TCU with another point to get the Frogs one point away from advancing.
At Flight 4, Morgan Williams and Sofia Izuzquiza were up at multiple points in their match but fell in the third set by a score of 15-13 to allow the Lions to even the match.
To clinch it, the LMU No. 1 pair earned a sweep to send the Lions to the National Quarterfinal.
