
TCU Goes Cold on Senior Night

FORT WORTH, Texas -- The TCU women's basketball team was cold offensively on Senior Night and fell to No. 16 Oklahoma, 73-64, inside Schollmaier Arena on Saturday night.
TCU (12-16, 4-13) shot just over 30 percent (21-of-67), but was still locked into a close game, trailing by just four points with five minutes to go. Oklahoma (22-7, 13-4) made five of its last seven shots down the stretch to pull away and overcome a 23-turnover night.
After the game, the Frogs honored their two seniors, Jada Butts and Carol Willie, in their final home game as Frogs. Butts went out with a bang, scoring 22 points on 7-of-12 shooting. AJ Alix added 17 points for TCU.
Vionise Pierre-Louis led Oklahoma with 18 points and four blocks in 14 minutes.
Defining Moments
AJ Alix converted a 3-point play with 5:17 to go to get TCU within four, 61-57. However, from there TCU came up empty on four of its next five possessions while Oklahoma scored on four of its next six.
That 7-2 run put the Sooners up 68-59 with just over one minute remaining in the game. From there OU made 5-of-6 free throws down the stretch to ice the game.
Stat of the Game
23 -- TCU forced Oklahoma into 23 turnovers, the most forced by the Frogs in a Big 12 this season. TCU was coming off of a game at West Virginia on Wednesday in which it forced WVU into 22 turnovers.
Up Next
TCU travels to Texas Tech to close the regular season on Monday. The Lady Raiders lost at Baylor on Saturday and have won just one of their last 12 games, including at TCU earlier in February.
The Frogs and Lady Raiders are already locked into the eighth and ninth seed in the Big 12 Championships, meaning they will play each other in the Friday's first round. Who is eighth and who is ninth will be determined by who wins Monday's game.
