DALLAS -- The TCU women's basketball team impressed head coach Raegan Pebley with its toughness and grabbed a 64-58 win over SMU at Moody Coliseum on Tuesday.
Amber Ramirez led TCU (2-0) with a career-high 24 points, including six 3-pointers, to go along with five assists and five rebounds. Amy Okonkwo added 15 points, 10 in the second half, and Jordan Moore had 14 points, 11 in the second half. Okonkwo also had six rebounds and five assists.
No team ever led by more than eight points at any point, and the score was within one point at the end of each quarter until TCU's final five-point margin.
In the 60th meeting between the Metroplex rivals, TCU won its fourth straight over SMU, all under Pebley.
Kiara Perry led SMU (1-1) with 23 points. McKenize Adams, who had 38 points in SMU's season-opener, scored 15 against the Frogs but had take 20 shots in order to get there.
Defining Moments
The biggest lead for either team was eight points, and that lead was held by TCU after highlights from Ramirez on both ends of the floor in the fourth quarter. Ramirez blocked an SMU shot with 3:14 to go, then buried a trailing 3-pointer in transition just seconds later, giving TCU a 58-50 lead.
SMU would get the lead down to two, 60-58, with 38 seconds to go. From there, Okonwo rolled to the basket and got a great feed from Dakota Vann for a wide-open layup.
Vann then blocked SMU's shot attempt on the following possession and sealed the Frogs' win. It was Vann's third block and TCU's 10th after having 11 in its first game of the season.
Stats of the Game

Quote of the Game
"Our team had more to give at halftime, and we challenged everybody to give more. We needed to show more patience offensively, which would require more movement and more confidence. We challenged our post play. We challenged our guards to defend better. And, we weren't perfect in that second half, but I love that we showed some grit." -- Raegan Pebley
