Post-Game Quotes
Baylor 66, TCU 59
Wilkerson-Greines Activity Center
Attendance: 5,388
TCU head coach Trent Johnson
Opening statement
"We certainly had our opportunities. First half, we competed well on the glass. Second half, we looked very good with 22 offensive rebounds. Obviously, 15-for-28 from the free-throw line [isn't good]. We went up five and then had some uncharacteristic turnovers. That's one of the things I tell the guys. If you don't feel well about a pass late in the game [don't throw it]. Defensively, when you hold a team on the half court to 29 or 30 percent, like we did against K State, you have to clean up what you are doing on the glass and take care of it. That's pretty much it."
TCU guard Kyan Anderson
On how the team's mood is considering past games
"I wouldn't say frustrated among any of the guys. But going through what we went through last year and trying to revert to a better team. We are a better team than we have shown, especially with free throws and turnovers. We just have to fix that."
On if there are certain positives to take out of such a loss
"Most definitely. We put ourselves in the best possible situation to win the game. I couldn't tell you what happened late. All you can ask for is an opportunity to win the game. We didn't play great basketball, but to be in position to win you have to be doing something right."
Baylor head coach Scott Drew
Opening statement
"I thought TCU defensively was outstanding. The good thing is we found a way down late to come back and get a win in the Big 12. At the end of the day, it's tough to win the game let alone a road game."
On what made the difference in the game's outcome
"The big thing was that we were able to get some stops. Once you make a stop, get some shots and it all kind of snowballs. Before when we couldn't make a shot, we couldn't get rhythm. Credit TCU for playing well."
On how aware Baylor was heading in about TCU's defense
"No question. Everyone knows statistically they are tops in the country defensively with what Coach Johnson does. That's why they were ranked. Anytime you play a good defensive team, if you don't score on one end it's hard to play defense on the other because of frustration."
