Head Coach Jeff Mittie
On the game tonight:
"The first half was the best half of basketball we have played since the Oklahoma game. I thought Micah gave us a big boost. She had four assists early and I thought we were able to run some things through her. Both Ice and Emily had a lot of good looks, while Starr just continues to play at a high level of energy. I thought it was the best balance we have had in a long time."
On the team right now:
"This league has gotten multiple teams into the NCAA tournament every year we have been in it. All three of us have work to do and I don't think any of us want to be an at-large. Regardless of where we are at today, we can't do anything to change any of our previous games, other then finishing strong. That's our focus and what we are trying to do, finish strong."
"The story is not over for us. A couple of weeks ago, we were talking as a staff about Ebony Shaw's team that went 10-12 during a stretch of play during the 2002-03 season and ended up playing UCONN in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. That team took a little while to find itself and I think that has happened a little bit with this squad. Our focus is on writing a good ending."
On his bench play:
"One of the things we have tried to do is get our depth better. While the bench didn't have a great night in some areas, they have given us spurts, which I think has made us a better team."
Emily Carter
On the game tonight:
"I think our start tonight was really good. We really executed well tonight in the first half and were able to get some really good looks at the basket. I think our defense was locked in and we did a pretty good job tonight."
On the season:
"We just have to keep moving forward and keep getting better everyday. We can't change anything in the past. We now just have to focus on New Mexico."
Helena Sverrisdottir
Her thoughts on the season:
"We just have to keep looking forward and work hard towards these next two games. It has kind of been an up-and-down season, but as long as we keep working hard, we'll be fine."
