TCU 65, UTSA 30
Nov. 14, 2011
Attendance: 2,720
Daniel-Meyer Coliseum
Head Coach Jeff Mittie
On the first home game:
"We have a lot of young players, so every game is kind of a new adventure at a time."
On Jazz Parker's standout performance:
"Jazz has some outstanding scoring ability and she's learning to play harder. She's putting in the work off the court with her shot. I think with continued improvement on her shot selection and learning to play harder, Jazz can really help us."
On Latricia Lovings' play:
"Both her and Ashley (Colbert) gave us a better inside game than we had against Georgia. They where more aggressive and I think LT had a good feel today. She is continuing to get better defensively and is going to be a factor for us. She alters a lot of shots. She did it against Georgia and did it against UTSA tonight.
On the upcoming game against SMU:
"I think in knowing someone's roster you have to get more familiar with them. They played tonight a Arkansas Little Rock team that we are familiar with and I think that will give us a good indication."
"If you just take a look at us tonight, the first ten minutes of the game were awful with taking care of the ball, but we got better as the game progressed, which is a positive. I'm sure SMU will be a big game like it usually is every year."
On his teams offensive execution:
"We only had two points inside against Georgia. We feel like we've got to throw it in there more. We were very perimeter oriented against Georgia, so we did make an emphasis in practice that we need to attack the basket better."
Overall performance:
"I thought it was ok. I've talked to this team about their effort and that's the way I'm going to grade it. I thought we were in and out tonight. I think this group continues to learn and I thought it got better as the night went on. I think our nerves were just a little off at the beginning of the game. Once we got through that, our effort was pretty good."
