
Horned Frogs Drop 78-62 Decision to UNLV

LAS VEGAS - Tre'Von Willis and Chace Stanback each finished with 16 points en route to leading UNLV to a 78-62 victory over the Horned Frogs at the Thomas & Mack Center on Wednesday evening.
The Runnin' Rebels had four players in double figures in Willis (16), Stanback (16), Kendall Wallace (12) and Brice Massamba (10) while UNLV, as a team, connected on 52.5 percent (31-of-59) of its field goal attempts.
In the first half of action, the Runnin' Rebels were able to take a double-digit lead at 10 points, 22-12, with 9:20 remaining following three consecutive three-pointers by Wallace and point guard Oscar Bellfield.
Throughout the first half of action, the Frogs hurt themselves with turnovers, which UNLV was able to capitalize on as the Runnin' Rebels held a 14-5 advantage in points off of turnovers during the first frame.
After cutting the lead to seven points at 26-19 following a three-pointer by Greg Hill at the 5:23 mark, the Runnin' Rebels went on a 14-6 run to close the frame and take a 40-25 advantage into the locker rooms.
The Runnin' Rebels jumped all over the Frogs after opening up the frame on a 24-8 run to take a 64-33 lead with 11:43 remaining in the game. The Frogs were able to battled back and produced a 27-9 run of their own to cut the lead to 13 points at 73-60 with 2:22 remaining in the game.
However, the Runnin' Rebels were able to hold onto the double-digit lead over the final minutes en route to securing the home victory.
Ronnie Moss finished with a game-high 25 points, including four three-pointers, to go along with six rebounds and five assists in 36 minutes of action to lead the Frogs.
Zvonko Buljan collected his seventh double-double of the season following a 21-point and 11-rebound performance. The TCU senior connected on 9-of-13 field goal attempts and also added two assists in 34 minutes of court time.
With the victory, UNLV improved to 21-7 overall and 9-5 in Mountain West Conference action while the Frogs dropped to 12-16 overall and 4-9 in league play.
The Frogs will be back in action on Saturday evening when TCU welcomes Colorado State to Daniel-Meyer Coliseum. Game time is slated for 7:30 p.m. Central Time.
