Nov. 18, 2009
Attendance: 2,009
TCU head coach Jeff Mittie
Opening statement
"We had a lot of break downs tonight. It is good to get a win against a quality team, but I don't feel like we played as well as we are capable of playing."
On his mood when trailing early
"Well, it was not good. Most of our frustration was towards the offensive end. I thought we would struggle a little defensively because we were trying things that were new to us. Most of my frustration was towards the offense, because we were not playing strong at all. I think at that point we were 2-of-16 in the field or something. We were not very aggressive."
On what he told his team at the half
"I told them we had to control the offense a little bit better. I felt that we needed to get the ball inside better and get on the glass. Defensively, we needed to keep them in front of us as much as possible. I felt like they would make some more shots, but they went ice cold and stayed that way."
Senior guard TK LaFleur
On TCU's veterans taking over the game late
"We remembered what happened last year, and we knew we had to handle their pressure late. In our huddles we just talked about staying poised, not rush anything and making sure our passes were sure passes. We wanted to step up in that aspect to finish and close out the game. We focused on staying tight and not getting sloppy with the ball, because their pressure caused us so much trouble last year."
Freshman forward DeLisa Gross
On her performance
"It felt pretty good. When I made the second 3-pointer, I just kept reminding myself to spot up. Coach kept telling us to attack them offensively, so we just kept running and getting layups and going straight to the glass."
