FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU Horned Frogs (12-15, 4-11 MWC) rolled past the Wyoming Cowboys by a 77-58 final (15-14, 6-9) in the season finale at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum. Kevin Langford poured in a career-high 24 points, and the Horned Frogs held the Cowboys 16 points below their season average in the Mountain West Conference tilt.
It was TCU's largest margin of victory since Dec. 22, 2004, when the Frogs defeated Arkansas-Pine Bluff, 76-55. In addition, it was the largest win in a conference game since TCU drubbed No. 10 Louisville, 71-46, on Feb. 17, 2004.
The Horned Frogs led by nine, 39-30, at intermission after shooting nearly 60 percent from the floor (16-for-27). Langford had 15 in the opening stanza to help TCU match its season high first-half total.
TCU built a 16-point bulge, 50-34, with 12:26 left to play on a pair of Neil P. Dougherty free throws. The Cowboys cut the lead to single digits with less than 8 ½ minutes left before Neiman Owens slashed to the basket and scored a conventional three-point play to put the Frogs up 55-43. TCU never led by fewer than a dozen points the rest of the way.
TCU harassed the backcourt duo of Brandon Ewing and Brad Jones all night. The Frogs held Ewing, the league's top scorer at 20.3 points per game, to seven points. Jones, the MWC's third highest scorer at 17.8, only had 11. The two combined to shoot 4-for-17 (.235) from the floor.
Owens had 13 points, eight rebounds, four assists and three steals. Hackett totaled 12 points, while Dougherty had a career-best 11 in his final game at DMC. In addition to Dougherty, it was Senior Night for Blake Adams and Femi Ibikunle.
TCU has now won eight straight home finales. In addition, TCU secured its 10th home victory for the 10th time in the past 13 seasons.
The Frogs finish the regular season on Saturday at San Diego State. The game against the Aztecs will tip off at 3 p.m. (PT). Following that, TCU will appear in the first round of the MWC Tournament in Las Vegas against an opponent yet to be determined. The opening round game will tip off at 9:30 p.m. (CT) Tuesday night.
