FORT WORTH, Texas -- Adrianne Ross scored 16 points while Vanessa Clementino tied a season-high with 15 to lead five TCU players in double figures in the Lady Frogs' 80-49 victory over San Diego State Saturday night at the Daniel-Meyer Coliseum. It was the first time this season that TCU placed five players in double figures. It was also the Lady Frogs' largest margin of victory since a 74-43 win over North Dakota State on Feb. 22, 2005.
TCU redshirt freshman Marissa Rivera, a native of Chula Vista, Calif., just outside San Diego, scored a career-high 10 points on five-of-eight shooting from the field. She added three rebounds, three steals and two blocked shots.
Jenna Lohse had 12 points while Natasha Lacy scored 10 for the Lady Frogs.
Clementino also scored 15 points in a season-opening 71-68 overtime win against Long Beach State. She was four shy of a career-high 19 in a victory over Saint Louis last season. TCU totaled 39 points off the bench.
Ross and Lacy both had six boards to tie for team-high rebounding honors.
After trailing 13-10, the Horned Frogs (14-9, 8-4) took a 15-13 advantage when Ashley Davis drained a 3-pointer with 11:59 left in the first half. TCU would not relinquish that lead the remainder of the contest. The Davis trey was part of a run of 17 consecutive Lady Frog points as the Aztecs (3-20, 0-13) were held scoreless for a six-minute stretch.
TCU led 38-24 at the intermission.
The Aztecs scored the first bucket of the second half to pull within 12 points, but that would be as close as they would get the remainder of the contest. The TCU margin grew to as large as 35 points in the second half.
TCU forced 32 San Diego State turnovers and had 19 steals. The Lady Frogs shot 43.9 percent from the field compared to 35.3 for the Aztecs.
Veronica Shaw led the Aztecs with 12 points.
The game was played at 7 p.m. instead of the original 2 p.m. start as the Aztecs' Friday flight from San Diego into the Fort Worth/Dallas airport was canceled due to inclement weather. The Aztecs' Saturday flight was then delayed one hour and didn't land in the Metroplex until 4:15 p.m. The team then grabbed a pre-game meal at the airport before heading straight to the Daniel-Meyer Coliseum.
TCU returns to action Wednesday with a 7 p.m. home game versus Colorado State.
