TCU locks up Grambling State 64-46

FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU Horned Frogs improved to 4-1 for the first time since the 1998-99 season after defeating the Grambling State Tigers (1-2) by a 64-46 final Friday at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum. The 46 points were the fewest allowed by TCU since a 71-46 victory over 10th-ranked Louisville on Feb. 17, 2004.
TCU's newcomers paced the team in the first half, scoring 33 of the team's 35 points. The six first-year Frogs finished the night with all but 12 of the team's total points. The Frogs led by 10, 35-25, at intermission and then limited Grambling to just four points over the first 11 minutes of the second half to stretch the lead to 20.
The Horned Frog bench continued its strong play, outscoring Grambling's substitutes 48-4 on the evening. Through five games, TCU's reserves have outproduced the opposing benches by a remarkable 188-88 count.
Grambling shot under 30 percent from the floor and committed 30 turnovers. TCU got to the free throw line 39 times, but convertede just 17 tries (43.4 percent). The victory moved TCU to 8-0 all time against the Tigers.
Ryan Wall led the Horned Frogs with 14 points, while Alvardo Parker had 12 points and a game-high nine rebounds. Keion Mitchem matched his career high with 11 points. Jason Ebie scored five in his Horned Frog debut.
